Where to Stay in Reykjavik With Family

Magazine Where to Stay in Reykjavik With Family

In the last few years, Iceland has emerged on the world scene as a hot tourist destination.  And for good reason; what with its exotic landscapes, breathtaking attractions, and unspoiled nature, travelers can find a multitude of options for both leisure activities and unique adventures.  What fewer know is that Iceland is extremely family friendly, so travelling parents can rest assured that Iceland and, of course its capital city Reykjavik is a great place for families.

Since one of the more important aspects of traveling with kids is securing the right accommodation, we wanted to provide some additional information about some great options that answer the “where to stay” question. If you are planning to spend some time in Reykjavik, or use it as a base to explore more of Iceland, please allow us to present a few options:

In our capital city, Berjaya Hotels has two properties, Berjaya Reykjavik Natura Hotel and Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel; both offer great room options for families.

Berjaya Reykjavik Natura Hotel, which is located in central Reykjavik, offers the Flora Family Room. With more space, it easily accommodates families with children. The room features a double bed or two twin beds depending on the family’s preference. The room comes with toys to make kids feel more at home.  To add to the family atmosphere, Reykjavik Natura offers a complementary bedtime story time every Thursday evening in its cozy theater.  Each week’s bedtime story will feature a theme from Icelandic literature, including folktales, elf stories and readings from Nobel Prize winning author Halldor Laxness. This is a great way to bring the family together. Families bundle up with blankets and cozy up with hot chocolate during the readings. You can even come in your  pajamas!

Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel, which is located in downtown Reykjavik, offers two options for families depending on how much space is needed.  Studio 4 is perfect for smaller families and comfortably accommodates up to four people. The room includes a bunk bed to insure maximum space and comfort.  Studio 6 is a wise choice for larger families. With bunk beds and sofa couch, you will be able to sleep up to six people.

Once you decide which sleeping arrangement is right for your family, it will be time to relax and make some lasting memories with your loved ones in the vibrant and fun city of Reykjavik.
