Berjaya Hotels are proud sponsors of DesignMarch 2018, Iceland‘s annual design festival that is celebrating it‘s 10th anniversary this year. With an expected 100 or so events Reykjavík will be turned into one big venue for design. From fashion to furniture, architecture to graphic design, the festival showcases the best of the local design scene alongside exciting international names.

In addition to hosting members of the media, four events will take place at Canopy Reykjavik City Centre, Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel and Berjaya Reykjavik Natura Hotel.

Transformation Creation #3 – Hotel runway

Fashion designer Ýr Þrastardóttir exhibits the third collection of the design label Another Creation at Canopy Reykjavik City Centre on the 16th of March at 20:00.

The collection is inspired by the freedom and new wave of the 70´s combined with the modern attitude towards sustainability and functionality in design.

Icelandic lopi sweater, its origins, history and design

The lecture at Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel on the 17th of March at 14:00 discusses the origins and history of the Icelandic lopi sweater, which can be traced to the rough and quickly made lopi sweater for farmers and sailors, and popular outdoor sweaters on both sexes with the characteristic circular yoke with different patterns.

Studio Trippin

Studio Trippin will have an exhibition at SlippBíó at Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel. They are a product and fashion design team that focuses on developing designed goods out of Icelandic horse hides, a byproduct of the Icelandic meat industry. The exhibition will be a peek into the true spirit of Studio Trippin.

Angan x Swimslow

Angan and Swimslow team up at Natura Spa at Berjaya Reykjavik Natura Hotel on the 17th of March 19:00-21:00.

 ANGAN is a sustainable skincare brand from Iceland that uses effective raw natural ingredients from nature in handcrafted pure skincare products.

SWIMSLOW is a sustainable swimwear brand designed in Iceland and made in Italy. The swimsuits are made out of recycled quality fabrics with a focus on minimizing environmental impact, human rights and the nowness in life.

 The brands have a vision to share the Icelandic bath rituals that have always played a big part of our culture. Rooted from the rituals the brands want to share an experience where mindfulness and bath rituals are connected.
