Follow the weather they say.

Follow the weather
Follow the weather

“Don´t worry about it, we will just follow the weather...”sounds stupid right? Well if you want to come to Iceland and get the “travel like a local experience” you better get used to the term as it is the most used slang by the domestics. You see, Icelanders are probably the simplest travellers on planet earth. Most of us don´t bother with driving around and visiting many places during our vacation. The only condition we have when deciding on a destination is that the weather is decent, on international standards that probably translates towards “not that shitty” and there probably will be a tent or a bungalow involved. Therefore, although the European golden plover is generally thought to be the first sign of spring, university students wearing shorts and sandals in 2°C is probably the first sign of there might eventually be a chance of spring in the next 6 months or so.

If you think about it this tendency to follow the weather is probably not that strange, we have a very short summer so we need to grab every moment of sun we can get. Although the summer is short it is one of the most beautiful summers in the world, due to the fact we have sunlight 24/7 during the summer. At those times we tend to forget the long and cold winter we endured and the times we thought it was normal to have to dig your way to the car in the morning and have icicles hanging from our nose by the time we stuck our keys in the ignition. Yes, it is safe to say we have a very extreme climate in Iceland which is one of the things that make our little island so unique. Whether you decide on visiting us during the winter or in the summer time you can always guarantee that you are getting an unforgettable experience.
