The hotel is superbly situated for the Three Ws: Whales, Woodlands and Waterfalls - including Godafoss and Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful cascade. Other "water features" include whale watching cruises from nearby Husavík and the splendour of Lake Myvatn with its unique birdlife, magnificent fjords and volcanic craters. Then there is the enchanting Vaglaskogur woods and Asbyrgi, a rocky, horseshoe shaped canyon legendary home of Viking gods.

Godafoss Waterfall

Godafoss is a waterfall in the river Skjalfandafljot close to the farm Fossholl in Bardardalur.

... means dark cliffs and features a maze like landscape. Located by lake Myvatn.

... hosts an impressive display of natural beauty, a diverse fauna and a unique ecosystem attracting visitors from all over.


13 km / 18 min drive / 2.5 hours walk the second largest forest area in the country. This area contains many birch trees and is a visitor attraction.
