Touch a ship in the slip

Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik MarinaThe old harbour

The arc building, which hosts Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina, is a well known landmark of the harbour. The opening of the hotel in the spring of 2012 is part of the flourishing development in the western part of the city centre and is often taken as an example of successful innovation and development in harmony with the environment. Reykjavík Marina received the Reykjavík Beautification Recognition award in 2012 for its beautiful environment and good access.

The hotel manager once received a complaint. A German tourist contacted him, devastated that a magnificent ship had set sail from the shipyard before he had an opportunity to take a picture. The man was told not to worry and he went to bed that night. The following morning when he rose from his bed, he was greeted with an even better view, a new ship had entered the shipyard during the night. The guest left delighted.
