Hamarsvöllur, or Hamar Golf Course in English, is one of the best 18-hole golf courses in Iceland and is the only Golf Resort in the country.
The course is located on the site of an old farm, which now serves as its clubhouse and as a guest house called Hviti Baerinn, the White Farm. Icelandair Hotel Hamar is located right by the green of the eighth hole.
Water hazards are found in multiple places across the course, with hole 16 being entirely surrounded by water.
The golf club of Borgarnes was founded in 1973 with what was originally a nine-hole course. The inauguration of the eighteen-hole course took place in June 2007.
The course is par 71, with 5,338 m² of white tees, 4,939 m² of yellow tees and 4,405 m² of red tees.
Visitors can book a tee time on www.golf.is or directly at the clubhouse.
