The Icelandic Music Experiments

Hilton & VOX
Reykjavik Marina
Reykjavik Natura
March 30 - April 6

The Icelandic Music Experiments (IME) has been the main venue for young and upcoming bands in Iceland since 1982. The festival is in the form of four semi-final nights and one grand final-night. Up to 40 bands participate every year in Harpa concert hall, surrounded by professional staff and friendly atmosphere.

The main goal of the IME is to make way for young and upcoming musicans in Iceland, giving them an opportunity to perform on a professional level and even get rewarded with spectacular prices that include recording studio sessions, music instruments etc. Throughout the years IME has proven to be a milestone for young and upcoming bands and is still a great platform for our evergrowing icelandic music scene. Apart from all the great companies that have supported us through the years; music stores, recording studios etc., we have had great support from Icelandair, Rás 2 (National radio station 2) and FÍH (The association of icelandic musicians).

Every year, 40-50 bands/musicians are offered a chance to perform. Hitt Húsið will select and approve the applications, based on the rules of the IME Those who will be rejected, will get their registration fee back.
