Romantic weekend in Iceland | Icelandair Hotels

We suggest that you start your journey by visiting our capital Reykjavik. After that we recommend you experience the beautiful and relaxing countryside east of the city. Finally, finish your trip by visiting the famous Blue Lagoon.

You will start your journey in Reykjavik and then drive into the countryside to one of our new hotel, Icelandair Hotel Hengill.  There we recommend that you try to sit outside in the hot tubs – where you have an excellent chance to view the fantastic Northern Lights with a great view over Lake Thingvallavatn and its surroundings. The hotel is in one of Iceland’s most breathtaking natural settings, near Thingvellir National park.

1st DAY: ARRIVAL DAY | KEFLAVIK- REYKJAVIK
HIGHLIGHTS: Reykjavik
You arrive at Keflavik International Airport and it takes about 50 minutes to drive or take the Flybus/taxi to Reykjavík. Hotel Loftleiðir offers a complimentary shuttle bus five times a day to the city centre. We recommend that you look into what the city has to offer.

2nd DAY: REYKJAVIK - NESJAVELLIR
HIGHLIGHTS: Blue Lagoon, Nesjavellir
We suggest that you start your trip by driving to the famous Blue Lagoon. After this, you can drive back in the direction of Reykjavík and on to Nesjavellir. Nesjavellir is a geothermal area and the nature there is breathtaking, filled with power and energy from the Earth. Just next to the hotel is a warm creek and it is always fun to go there and get your feet wet.

3rd DAY: THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK – GEYSIR - GULLFOSS
HIGHLIGHTS: Þingvellir National Park– Geysir – Gullfoss
On Day 3 you can drive to our oldest national park, Þingvellir. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural and geological importance. Here you can bask in its amazing geological landscape. For many, the most impressive thing about the park is that you are able to visualize the Continental Divide and to get an insight into the rifting of giant tectonic plates. After Þingvellir it’s a pleasant drive to the world-famous Geysir and Gullfoss area.

4th DAY: NESJAVELLIR -REYKJAVIK
HIGHLIGHTS: Reykjavik
We recommend that you head back to Reykjavik early to have enough time explore what the town has to offer.
