Husband and wife team Hjortur Arnason and Unnur Halldorsdottir have been the managers of Icelandair Hotel Hamar since 2005. Before becoming hotel managers they, among other things, ran a Shell station in the nearby town of Borgarnes for nine years, earning a great reputation for their excellent service year round. Their common interests are golf and travel, but their children and grandchildren are the biggest priority.
Hjortur is a dedicated fly fisherman but is rather conservative on which flies he uses, favouring mostly Black Zulu and Hairy Mary. His favourite place in West Iceland is the geyser-like Deildartunguhver, which never fails to impress him.
Unnur has a special interest in genealogy. She is very creative and has many years of experience writing poetry and verses. In addition, she is extremely interested in all types of association activities and is currently the chairperson of the Icelandic Travel Association. Unnur has many favourite places in Borgarnes, including the coastline in Myrar and the Hraunfoss waterfall. However, the best-kept secret is the mountainous view from Hotel Hamar.
